I was born and raised in Michigan and spent the first few years of life living in a lighthouse. It was during those formative years watching my Dad guide freighters through the choppy waters of Lake Michigan I decided I wanted to do the same. But with clients. And ads.
And definitely not in some ice freaking cold lighthouse.
I attended Grand Valley State University to study advertising in a move that must have caught the university completely off-guard, so underprepared were they.
Fortunately, I fought my way into an internship at Grey Advertising where I learned more about advertising than my entire college career.
Over the years, I’ve guided brands like Bud Light, McDonald’s, Mars (Milky Way, Starburst) and Capital One. The work my teams and I created has grabbed the attention of distracted consumers, led to sales increases and been highly awarded, winning just about every award there is, including: Cannes Grand Prix, an Emmy Nomination and #1 Superbowl commercial in the USA Today Ad Meter poll. Even better, our work has produced record sales for our beer, fast food and candy clients.
In late 2014, I helped open the Chicago office of highly-regarded Canadian Agency, Cossette. We doubled in size during our first year in business and were named one of Ad Age’s Best Places To Work in 2016.
I live in Chicago and probably should own more sweaters than I do.
